« Bring me back to Bastírna » | Chapter I - Part I
« Bring me back to Bastírna » | Chapter I - Part I » while walking around Czech Republic | A new series which is particularly close to my heart named « Cesky léto » that is my own interpretation summer in Czech Republic true my lens and yes, there is something magic about it ! Part (1/3) : « Bring me back to Bastírna » I had the luck to be with the right person at the right time to discover that magnificent place called Bastirna situated just next the ruins of the Zlenice castle where you can find a camping and some small “restaurant” where you eat some classical Czech summer dishes accompanied of course with a sweating fresh beer before spending the afternoon swimming in the river, taking the sun or spend it on the other side of the river crossing it walking or if you are a bit lazy using a small boat who will bring you on the other side for couple Czech crowns. The famous and beloved legendary Czech documentary photographer Frantisek Dostál was connected also to this place as his most famous lifetime masterwork is a collection of black-and-white photographs taken along Sázava at Plovárna Senohraby between 1968 and 1990. Unfortunately I learned that František died in 2022 only two years after I started taking photographs of the place and since then, I came back every summer to spend some time there, simply happy, surrounded by the closest persons, also alone sometimes and with my camera of course, always. I will continue to go there every summer and capture the legacy of that place, the persons that hardly care of the camping and the great atmosphere that they made of it and of course the people just passing by, like me.
